outstanding boots, lightweight and comfortable
Brian helped me find the right product and right size. I have large hard to fit foot. He also called me after I placed the order to offer manufacturers discount if I could wait a little. Boots are great based on 2 rides.
These Sidi boots arrived promptly and are a great product as expected. Quality and fit are top notch. A big shout out to Brian for personally spending time on the phone with me discussing fit - there are lots of choices for Moto retailers but none better than Atomic Moto. Happy customer here.
These boots are actually lighter than I thought they would be and are very comfortable. Surprising for a full protection boot!
First set of MX/Enduro boots after a decade and a half of touring/ADV softer boots. A little trepidation about making the switch but in my mind getting the extra protection is a good call. I ride mostly road but here in CO almost any road will lead to a dirt road and any dirt road will, at any time turn to sand or or rocks or ruts or mud so better to be prepared. Before talking about the boots a word about the great buying experience with Atomic-Moto, great unbiased advice, super simple shipping and returns.
I tried both the X-power SC and a pair of A-stars Tech 7. Given the completely different feel of these stiffer boots than I had ever experienced both boots were surprisingly comfortable. Definitely no desire to hike in them but okay for general waking around - wore them around the house and garage for an hour two each a couple of times. Decided to go with the Sidi for a couple of reasons. They were definitely wider and more comfortable in the toe box. They felt lower and lighter than the Tech 7. I like the ease and orientation of the buckles more. Although I wonder how well the little plastic tabs that hold the adjustment will last over time. On the bike I did need to adjust the shift lever a bit higher - brake is fine. Shifting is different than with a boot that allows your ankle to flex down but even after just a couple of hundred miles of short day rides it is easy enough to get used to.
Got these to replace Sidi Adv 2. The added protection can be seen and felt upon taking them out of the box and even more so when putting them on. The memory foam that firmly encases the ankle combined with the solid outer boot and hinge should keep the ankle as safe as possible. The stiff sole and firm but low-profile toe box will keep the foot from getting smashed. Despite having the feel of a ski boot, the SG-12 is absolutely walkable.
Should have bought them to begin with instead of seeking a compromise in the Sidi Adv 2.
I’m a 10 1/2 US in running shoes and 11 fit perfectly in both the SG-12 and Adv 2.
Thanks Brian, for taking the time to explain the differences and shipping these out very quickly. Looking forward to years or riding in them!!
With the help of Brian who called me on a Saturday morning helped with my decision. I had a couple boots in mind and these were on my short list. They showed up and I tried them on and they’re very comfortable and flex nice while walking. I think this boot offers the best blend of comfort, protection and value. I’m going to be very happy with them. They’re almost to nice looking to wear but I’m going to.
While dealing with Brian on this purchase it became obvious I was dealing with a highly knowledgeable, old school motorcycle guy. It reminded me of the guys I would talk with 30 years ago who knew the products, all the products. Tell him what you want and he'll tell you what you need. And it will likely be just that. There's value in this service. The SG12's are a heavy duty boot. To the point I was asking myself " do I need this much protection?" After breaking my leg at the ankle waring my old boots the answer was clearly yes. There are going to take some getting used to no doubt about it but you will have THE best protection money can buy. I can't compare to the Tech 10's because I haven't worn those. The Klim helmet Brian recommended is fantastic as well.
Brian suggested this helmet for the large opening, light weight and ventilation. It performed as advertised. Did my first race with it and had no issues. I didn't even notice it and that's what I want
