I felt I won the lottery by scoring these boots as I kept checking for weeks Atomic Moto WS for size 46 availability (non-Gore-Tex) and usually got Out-of-Stock for my size. Well I lucked out and order landed. As usual, fast shipping and good communication from AM. SG-22 fit me great right out of box. Felt way more flexible / walkable vs. new SG-12 that I ended up selling as being too stiff less communicative wrt foot controls. I like the Enduro's more aggressive sole, more traction when dragging a stuck bike out of the weeds /mud. I currently wear Gaerne Fastback Enduro, 46. Not waterproof, thus I went with the SG-22 Enduro Gore-Tex. Seems a bit stiffer but they're new and I expect they'll loosen up. Sg-22 toe box is bigger, wider and taller, IMO. I like the room for heavy socks and being able to move toes around. I have not trail ridden them yet..this weekend I expect a couple hundred miles on them. Hopefully I can come back and edit review. Boots from AM always a good purchase experience.
Brian offers unparalleled customer service and I could not be more pleased with my purchase. Will be returning for all future moto needs.
Got these to replace Sidi Adv 2. The added protection can be seen and felt upon taking them out of the box and even more so when putting them on. The memory foam that firmly encases the ankle combined with the solid outer boot and hinge should keep the ankle as safe as possible. The stiff sole and firm but low-profile toe box will keep the foot from getting smashed. Despite having the feel of a ski boot, the SG-12 is absolutely walkable.
Should have bought them to begin with instead of seeking a compromise in the Sidi Adv 2.
I’m a 10 1/2 US in running shoes and 11 fit perfectly in both the SG-12 and Adv 2.
Thanks Brian, for taking the time to explain the differences and shipping these out very quickly. Looking forward to years or riding in them!!
With the help of Brian who called me on a Saturday morning helped with my decision. I had a couple boots in mind and these were on my short list. They showed up and I tried them on and they’re very comfortable and flex nice while walking. I think this boot offers the best blend of comfort, protection and value. I’m going to be very happy with them. They’re almost to nice looking to wear but I’m going to.
While dealing with Brian on this purchase it became obvious I was dealing with a highly knowledgeable, old school motorcycle guy. It reminded me of the guys I would talk with 30 years ago who knew the products, all the products. Tell him what you want and he'll tell you what you need. And it will likely be just that. There's value in this service. The SG12's are a heavy duty boot. To the point I was asking myself " do I need this much protection?" After breaking my leg at the ankle waring my old boots the answer was clearly yes. There are going to take some getting used to no doubt about it but you will have THE best protection money can buy. I can't compare to the Tech 10's because I haven't worn those. The Klim helmet Brian recommended is fantastic as well.
Brian suggested this helmet for the large opening, light weight and ventilation. It performed as advertised. Did my first race with it and had no issues. I didn't even notice it and that's what I want
